Tips for finding an internship in Toulouse

Sharing

As a mandatory step for students to finish a year or even a diploma, an internship is a golden opportunity to get a foot in the door of the business world. Whether it lasts 2 or 6 months, an internship is a chance to get an initial experience in an industry that interests you. Are you studying in Toulouse, or would you like to undertake an internship here? Nemea Appart'Etud has some tips to help you find an internship in Toulouse.

Best practices for finding an internship in Toulouse

Looking for an internship is never that much fun... you send off application after application and get fed up with HR when you don't even get a reply. However, a little common sense can stack the cards in your favour, so you don't end up as the office coffee maker/photocopier.

1st tip, do your research! Identify leading companies in your field of study to target your applications. Take a look at their website and check out their job offers, maybe there's already an advert out for an intern role. Not the case? Get your unsolicited application in!

Let's talk about your application. Writing to your mates in Franglais or SMS code is fine, but a recruiter is unlikely to appreciate it. Proofread your cover letter, have someone close to you or even a teacher who knows the sector well, read it again.

You could mention in your cover letter that you have accommodation in the local area. No need to go into details, but it helps reassure the company you can actually be there.

There are also associations that help students in Toulouse find an internship or work-study program, such as La Fabrique des Pitchouns. Another thing to try is asking around, local networking can't hurt!
