BUDGET & FUNDING

What financial support is available during your studies ?

Sharing

Student life isn’t always sunshine and lollipops... even if your parents are helping you out, between leisure activities, rent, registration fees and everything else... Making ends meet can be tough. However, students are also entitled to certain financial assistance. APL is probably the best known financial assistance for students, but Nemea Appart Etud can help you discover others.

Help to study abroad?

Do you dream of being completely bilingual? Why not spend a semester or two at a university abroad? It looks good on your CV, you'll discover a new culture and apparently, the French accent is very popular! Did you know that you can get financial help to study abroad?

The Erasmus+ study grant: reserved for students on the Erasmus+ programme. This grant can last from 3 to 12 months and is between €150 and €300 per month depending on the country of study.

Conditions of allocation: studying in another European country, in a higher education institution, as part of an exchange between the two institutes/universities.

Help to study elsewhere in France?

Well done! You’ve finished your year like a pro and now have a Bachelor’s degree? If you’re aiming for a specific Master 1, you may have realised that not all universities offer the same specialities... you’re at university in Rennes and your dream Master’s programme is only available in Strasbourg?

No problemo, you may be able to take advantage of the Master's mobility grant. This €1,000 grant (in 2020), which can help you move more easily, is subject to a few conditions:

  • Certificate of completion of your Bachelor's degree
  • Certification of your registration in Master 1
  • Already a holder of a social criteria based grant
  • Be registered in an academic region where you did not take your first degree (see point 2)

You can find the map of the different academic regions on the Government website.

And many other possible sources of financial assistance

Being a student is supposed to be "the best years of your life” and there are other sources of financial assistance to help you study more serenely (yes, we said study!).

The Public Service website has put a table summarising the different types of assistance online, as well as the possible combinations, because yes, BIG NEWS: you can combine several types of assistance!

Support can take other forms too, such as preferential rates in partner shops/restaurants. Because a good kebab with your classmates is priceless!
