Living in Lyon's 8th district

Sharing

So you're coming to study in Lyon next term, and you're looking for a place to stay? You'll quickly fall in love with the 8th district, it's a great blend of tranquillity and urban bustle,

A dynamic district for students

Located in the south-east of the city, Lyon's 8th district is both family and student friendly. Several universities have chosen to make this district their home, which makes it the ideal place for students to live. If you're the sort of person who's always snatching those last few moments of sleep in the morning, this is the perfect location for you.

Fancy a little shopping trip? Make the most of the ever-growing public transport network. The area is served by tramways 2 and 4 and by the metro line D. You can quickly get to Bellecour and Old Lyon to get what you need!

Living in Lyon's 8th district

Lyon is packed with nice cafés and bars. If you fancy a fun evening with other students, we recommend one of the terraces on place Ambroise Courtois. There are also many bars near la Manufactre des Tabacs where you'll find Lyon III University. As for nightlife, head over to Red House. A true institution and HQ for many of Lyon's students.

The 8th district is also home to a wide variety of architecture and entertainment. If you fancy a bit of culture or post-study R&R head to Institut Lumière, Nouveau Théâtre du 8ème, Maison de la Danse or Musée Lumière, the area's main sites of interest.
