What is there to do in Clermont-Ferrand?

With its wonderful setting and numerous outdoor activities, Clermont-Ferrand attracts many students every year. What is there to do in Clermont-Ferrand? Here are the best places to hang out and have fun without spending too much money.

 

Cultural, sporting and other leisure activities in Clermont-Ferrand

Clermont-Ferrand has many museums like L'Aventure Michelin, the Bargoin Museum and the FRAC Auvergne. Heritage lovers can visit the Opera House, the Cathedral or the Town Hall. Every year, in March/April, the city hosts the "Clermont Geek Convention". The perfect opportunity to meet youtubers and don your best cosplay look!

If you prefer more active pursuits, you'll find a laser game bowling alley and trampoline park in the outskirts of Clermont-Ferrand. Nature lovers can take up the challenge of climbing the Puy-de-Dôme. There are several other walks and outings in the area too, like a day trip to Vulcania theme park.

 

Students in Clermont-Ferrand: food and traditions

You won't a car to access activities from your student accommodation in Clermont-Ferrand! There are several stadiums and swimming pools as well as an ice rink. Here, rugby reigns supreme. For memorable evenings, head to Place de Jaude on the eve of a legendary ASM club match.

When it comes to food, cheese and charcuterie lovers are in for a treat. There are also some great places for students to eat and drink:

●        Le Carnot: the perfect café for a snack with friends after class;

●        Le 1513: a restaurant with a varied, affordable menu and great, seasonal, sweet and savoury pancakes.

 

Student life and nightlife in Clermont-Ferrand

For nights out, there are several nightclubs in the city centre including Middle and Them's. When it comes to bars, you're spoilt for choice. Le Verlaine, located behind the Centre Jaude 1, offers a selection of beers and other spirits at low prices (regular happy hours). Bar L'Appart is an original setting with a chic, cosy atmosphere.
