What can students do in Aix-en-Provence ?

Student life in Aix-en-Provence is very diverse! There are many places that welcome students for some R&R and socialising in their time off. What sort of student life awaits in Aix-en-Provence?

Nemea has the low-down

Aix-en-Provence, a lively town Every year, 90,000 students warm the benches at the universities in Marseille/Aix-en-Provence, in other words, a quarter of the area's population. They come from local areas and from afar, they add to the cultural mix and entertainment in the town.

On fact, Aix town centre is very lively, particularly cours Mirabeau where young people meet on la Rotonde roundabout near the fountain. Many bars with terraces are open after classes ready to welcome you with their relaxing atmospheres.

Cultural life, social life and transport in Aix-en-Provence

As for events, dance, music and theatre festivals all regularly take place in Aix-en-Provence. Whether you are a fan of concerts or exhibitions, you'll probably find a slice of happiness at Théâtre des Gazelles, Pavillon Noir, Bois de l’Aune, Centre International des Arts en Mouvement or even l’Atelier Cézanne (free to students for the first three months of the year).

There are many student clubs like AssoM - l’Association des Etudiants de la Région Marseillaise who liven-up student life by organising events all year long. As for the Aix's public transport network, it's a quick, very handy way to get anywhere in Aix by bus, train or car.
